EDIT: After all that I ended up buying a Corsair Vengeance 32GB 2x16GB kit that is actually listed as fully supported on the motherboard's official QVL list.

The other ram I was looking at isn't on the QVL list, but would still likely work, still better safe than sorry though and happy with the officially supported choice in the end. Going from 8GB of Corair DDR3 on current build so can trust the brand.

ORIGINAL:

I've already purchased the 9600K + Asus ROG Strix Z390F in a really good value bundle deal on impulse, though luckily I held off on getting the 32GB of ram I originally wanted/still want quite a bit at the same time, until I'd done some more research.

It seems that 32GB might be a bit of overkill, but I do really still want that amount if possible, I'm upgrading from an ancient i5 760 and 8GB DDR 3, so really feel I deserve a nice upgrade.

However, I'm not a big overclocker and definitely won't spend more than £250 tops on 32GB, so I know I'm looking at lower end stuff.

That said, these are my options, I want to try to go by Gibbo's advice in this post I found:

GIBBO quote: "You want Samsung B die this rules out Corsair generally.

You should be looking at:
Antec - unscreened B die
G.Skill - 3000 Trident Z and above is B die
Teamgroup 8 Pack - is all screened B die
Teamgroup TUF - Samsung b die
Gigabyte Aorus RGB - Samsung B die

Is where you should be looking as Samsung IC is the best." GIBBO quote ends.

1st option:

I really like this set for some reason, the price and looks, though I'm pretty sure that's not Samsung produced.

The other option is going for this:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...-3000mhz-dual-channel-kit-blac-my-0a1-tg.html

Seems a great deal on sale and IS Samsung produced if it's the same as that list?

If that's the better Samsung produced stuff then I could even just be done with all the the slots on my board and go for 2 X 8x2 16GB kits of that at around £240. Again seems a good deal. I don't know I'd want 64GB ever, though I know I want 32GB for sure.

So any advice is appreciated. Just get the cheaper 32GB with an upgrade path to 64GB, or the better 16GB? Or 2 x 16GB kits with that being the final upgrade at 32GB, all slots filled?

If the TUF stuff wasn't on sale I'd just get a 16GB, but as it's on sale, could just get 32GB now.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi and welcome to the forums. :)

Gibbo's advice mainly applies to AMD's Ryzen platform as it can be very picky about memory. Intel's platform is far less picky and the QVL list is hardly ever updated. If you have purchased that 32Gb Corsair kit that will be fine, slightly tighter timings than the Teamgroup Vulcan too. Some of those Corsair LPX kits can overclock nicely too.
