Help please, problem with 2 video cards in Vista

Hello,

these are my specs:

Gigabyte DS4 V1.0 Motherboard
4gigs ram
Gefore 8800GTS 640mb
Vista ultimate

I am trying to add another graphics card so I can run 3 monitors. I have tried a pci-e gefore 7300, and a pci-e ATI 2400. Both these cards give the same problem, of when I boot into windows vista, on the welcome screen all monitors go black and I get no video signal on all monitors.

I don't understand, is this a hardware fault (my mobo can't use 2 pci-e graphics cards) or a Vista problem with drivers.

Any advice would be appreciated please.
