Hi all,

Just received my PS4 and I want to put it to my PC monitor and speakers so I have a HDMI to VGA and audio converter.

However, the monitor wont detect any output from the PS4 and I have tried it on various monitors.

When I changed the HDD in the machine, originally a source was detected when I was in the PS4 safe mode, its only when the firmware has been installed that a problem has occurred.

The HDMI converter worked outputting from a laptop, so I can only assume this is a PS4 fault.

If anyone can help that would be great.

Thank you

Tried turning off HDCP on the console? You may need to do this via another display that actually works with it.

Just tried that, and still wont display an output.

It will display in safe mode though, any ideas?

Whats the monitor? I had a similar issue when trying to plug consoles into a HP screen, and because it couldn't handle the lower resolution being output by the consoles (monitors standard was 2560x1600), it wouldn't work.

Dell u2412m, I have also tried it on another monitor with the same result

This is the converter I am using.

Could this be a faulty PS4 issue?

I'm guessing it works fine if you just go straight into one of the hdmi ports?

Hey,

Yeah if I plug it into a HDMI port it works as you would expect. Really annoying as I dont know if it is a faulty PS4 since the converter works ok with a laptop.

Ive purchased a new HDMI to VGA and Audio converter that the reviews say it works with the PS4, fingers crossed, just need to wait until tomorrow.

Update:

I have the new converter, it displays to the monitor but it is very dull, ive set the screen brightness to max which still hasnt done much.

Any ideas on this one?

Thanks

Given that it works in safe mode and doesn't appear to be a HDCP problem it may be that it can't output the 1920x1080 resolution to the VGA port. Try changing the resolution 720p and see if it works then.

But I'm really not sure why you would want to use a VGA connection if you have DVI or HDMI available.

I am using HDMI to VGA and Audio as my monitor does not have an audio output.

If you have a method to go from HDMI to DVI with a audio output I'd love that.

I'm confused.com

So does your Dell monitor have speakers built in?

Why can't you use a HDMI to DVI cable to the monitor for the picture (no convertor required) and use a separate cable from your PS4 audio output ( optical is it?) to whatever is providing your audio, eg, amp or speaker system?

I can't see why you want to convert to VGA when you have a DVI capable monitor, neither of which can supply audio.

My monitor does not have built in speakers and my speakers are Creative GigaWorks T40 which do not have an optical audio input. Do you have a solution too this?

Thanks

Ok, thanks for all the advice.

Ive purchased a Optical to analogue converter, and an optical cable.

Thanks all

Just a couple of ideas for bits you could buy, I just googled them so these are just examples:

Video:
HDMI to DVI cable for your PS4 to monitor - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Premium-HDMI-Cable-Gold-Metre-Black/dp/B000GDI6FC

Cables are pretty cheap these days so you dont need to spend a fortune.

Audio:
Optical to Analogue Convertor (optical out on the PS4 into the convertor and then analogue out of the convertor into your speakers) You will need an optical to optical cable and a phono RCA to phono RCA cable - or 3.5mm stereo jack depending on what connection your speakers have. - http://www.amazon.co.uk/LINDY-Digit...er-White/dp/B002AKXG5E/ref=pd_sxp_grid_pt_2_2

Lindy make good kit so this should do nicely or an alternative that you find.

Hope that helps.

EDIT: Just noticed you have bought a convertor and optical cable, let us know how you get on :)

Thanks for your advice, should arrive tomorrow and will update on the results.

Thanks
