I read this thread a bit earlier and thought that had this been on the steam forums about "my sons counterstrike got banned" then they would have been all over it, a little bit later and you didn't fail

To be fair my lads are always looking for codes etc for their webgames to get extra cash or whatever it is they need, I tell them it's wrong but do they listen?

Just tell him not to cheat again, They ruin gaming online.
My first encounter was on the original xbox on RTCW, Action Replay card allowed players to fly around the map and ruined that game. On PC you have to expect them but on consoles you should be free of them all the time.
You should get him a notorious game for cheats and give him just that one game on pc and see how long he thinks it's fun for.

It actually depends on exactly what the message says. If it says the ACCOUNT is suspended, then he can just make a new Gamertag and purchase a Gold subscription for it.
If it states that the console itself is banned, he'll need a new Xbox.
