Put it back to stock speed, if it still does it try each stick of ram in turn to see if it still plays up.

How far does it get into booting, can you get into the BIOS?

Have you checked all your internal and external connections?

the screen is still black on the monitor when the power switches off.

it doesnt do it all the time does it maybe twice a month

so can easily get to bios

the system is a pre built overclockers build so the overclock has been done by them these are tested surely or?

i will check all conections now

thankyou for the quick replys

Sounds like your mobo is dying my old Q6600 rig died in the same way, was sad day loved that Cpu :)

I hope not its not even 6 months old!!
Might just send the system back to overclockers and get them to check It it's under warranty so... Will phone them and see what they say.

Hahaha yeah pretty much, but then switches back on again.
It only does it every so often like a couple of times a month

Yeah mine does this occasionally. I've got no idea why but it never did it when I was running the thing at stock speeds for a few months so it's related to the overclock somehow. Never bothered to track down what causes it exactly.

Mine did this for a while.
Was pulling my hair out.
Turned out to be the 9 year old power switch had become sticky and would stay latched when I pressed it, then pop up after loading telling the PC to switch off. I replaced it (lian-li aftermarket support is awesome) and now all is well.

Remove your power switch wiring and short the terminals with a paperclip or screwdriver to boot it and see if this helps.
