Hi all I'm looking to upgrade my system and have been doing my research for a few weeks now and think I have come to a decision.

Before I order I wanted to check with some more knowledgeable people that it will all work with my current mother board.

Im currently running the following:
Motherboard --- Gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2 (AM3+) MicroATX
CPU ---- AMD Athlon II X3 Tri Core 455 3.30GHz (Socket AM3)
GPU -----OcUK HD 6850 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express
PSU ----- Cooler Master GX 450W '80 Plus Bronze'

I want to upgrade the graphics card and the processor to the following:

Gigabyte ATi Radeon HD 7950 Windforce 3X 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express
AMD Piledriver FX-6 Six Core 6300 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+)

Im presuming that I will need to upgrade the PSU?
Would I be able to slot these items straight into my rig no problems?
Would I need to update the bios?

Sorry for all the questions, just really want to be sure before I make the order.

Many Thanks

Your current motherboard is AM3 which only supports AMD Phenom and Athlon and it doesn't have a BIOS update to use AM3+ CPUs so you will need a new motherboard but I suggest you go down the Intel route

450W will be enough but how long have you had the PSU for?

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte ATi Radeon HD 7950 Windforce 3X 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with Crysis 3 & Bioshock PC Games £239.99
1 x Intel Core i3-3220 3.30GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £92.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £89.99
Total : £434.36 (includes shipping : £9.50).

Thanks for the reply.
The PSU is 13 months old.
As for the socket, the research I had done did suggest it was AM3 only but the description on my invoice did say AM3+!
So Intel something I hadnt thought of, so would your suggestion be better for games such as Arma 3/Bio shock than upgrading to Piledriver FX-6 Six Core 6300 Black Edition 3.50GHz?
Again Thankyou for your help and advice

Will need a new PSU if your running something like a 7950 because your current PSU doesnt have enough connectors.

CPU wise I'd either go i5 or 6300, with the i5 being the better performing chip.

i5 3570K + Z77 motherboard + 500-600W PSU + 7950 or 7850 would be a good performance boost.
