Currently in the process of building my PC..

Putting the heatsink on the retail X2 3800..

Once I've fastened both side's hooks to the retention clip the manual says I have to fasten the safely lever down.. the only problem is that I don't think it'll go down. I've lifted it up, to about half way but I'm not sure if I should try and push it further down because it is going to take a huge load of force and without even going past half way I heard slighty crack noise.. :o

What do I do?

make sure that the cpu is seated correctly in the motherboard.

The heatsinks do take a fair bit of force to clip on most of the time. Not sure about the cracking noise but they can be a bit of a bugger to put on.

Make sure that the clips are in the correct place but it should be a very tight fit when the level eventually goes down.

Aye i thought i was gonna break my X2 4200 when i was putting the stock heatsink and fan in place, check and double check before you put too much force on it but it does take quite a bit
