help please

on friday my crt monitor died
yesterday,saturday,my pc decided it did not want to load any games !
when i load disk an hour glass appears by cursor then ...........nothing.
hard drive makes a few strange sounds then silence.
is my HD dying ?

1 gig geil value
asus A8n sli premium

It certainly sounds like your HDD is on its way out. I would strongly recommend backing up anything important right now. NOW!

It might not be your HDD but it isn't worth the risk. Once you have backed up, you can try a new HDD in your system and see if the problem goes away, or try the suspect HDD in another system and see if the same problems occur.
