Help Please

I have just bought a new hard drive in addition to my existing one. I have plugged in the power and sata cable.

In windows the computer does not recognise it, what do I need to do?

does it show up in the BIOS? I'll assume it does, its probably not formatted go to the control panel then administrative tools (assuming your control panel is switched to view in classic mode) the computer management then there should be a section on the tree in the left for disk management, once on that you can format the drive.

sorry if some of the names are wrong im instructing from memory as im not on an XP machine at the moment
