Ive put my new rig together only to spot a crack in the case of my new coolmaster cosmos (thanx ocuk), when i go to boot it i see nothing on the monitor, my 8800gt hasnt arrived yet so ive had to put my old radeon x300 in to get going with.

I must admit its got me stumped, i cant get the comp to recognise the graphics card at all plus im not getting any beeps!

Ive put the card back into my other pc now to come back online and its fine.

theres obviously something im missing, can you help please

Oh and ive tried to boot from dvd but wont have it, maybe not factory set for that?

Regards

Jody

Give it a try resetting the BIOS, I tend to reset before I startup for the first on a new build.
If that fails make sure all your power connectors are installed including the 4 or 8 pin for the CPU.

If that fails, it maybe the ram, try booting with one stick, then try the other. Some memory needs more volts to fire up. If you get into the bios on one stick, then up the ram volts by .3. (Try each stick just incase one is faulty)

*edit* just noticed you have 4 gig, you may also require a further .1 on the MCH in mit.

right ive tried taking out everything exept whats needed to start, ive tried with one stick of ram, ive checked and reseated the cpu - all nothing, even with no ram im getting no beeping

just to confirm: i have three leads coming from the psu, one with 24 pin connector (24 pin mobo), one with 4 pin connector? and one with 8 pin

i currently only have the 24 pin in the mobo but i notice towards the top of the board there is a 4 pin socket, am i to use this socket with the lead that comes from the psu?

its a corsair 520w by the way

Thanx Jody

Yes it does, top left of the m/b, 4 pin square connector (12v)

Lol, no need to say sorry, we've all done it.
