I've just been putting together my PC and I got to the Freezer 64 Pro installation...

I've wiped off the thermal paste with a paper towel that was located on the bottom of the Freezer 64 Pro, but now I'm starting think I shouldn't have done that and it's required for operation...

What can I do now? Is it screwed?

Any help would be appreciated... I've never used a heat sink like this before, so, I'm a little confused...

You do need thermal paste. If you've wiped it off you'll need to get a tube of arctic silver 5, or something similar, and follow the application intructions.

yeah, the thermal paste is needed to transfer heat from the heat spreader on the chip to the heatsink.

in short, you shouldn't have wiped it off unless you were going to use a different type.

you can buy tubes of thermal compound from OcUK here

Just put a pea size drop onto the CPU and spread it evenly across the surface, then place the heatsink on top and secure it in place.

Where can I get that from?

Would I be okay just using the stock AMD fan for now until I can get paste for my artic cooler?

I understand what the instruction manual was saying now... Ittold me to wipe the paste of the CPU (as it assumes you've previously been using a heat-sink), not off the cooler...
I'm an idiot. >.<
