2 MSI GeForce GTX 460 Cyclone's to run in SLI
or
1 GeForce GTX 480 1536MB

Which is best for performance and VFM

The SLId 460s will give better performance now, but there'll be no upgrade route, where as the 480 would allow the addition of a 2nd card later, that being said I very much doubt youd need it unless playing at silly res

I was wondering with the 460's if they'd be quieter than the 480's due to the bigger fans -

...plus the 460's will beat the **** out of a 480 all day every day

Also something else to consider is the 480's might not be available in the coming months if you where thinking of upgrading at a later date. As rumours of the GTX 485 release are spreading across the net and availability of some brands of 480's seem limited right now.

I used to think that way also. But since owning a GTX 295 and now 2 GTX 470's in SLI, I've changed my mind.

I can say that I haven't had any issues what so ever when using SLI.

Ordered 2 of the MSI's for SLi,
Funny enough last night you could only buy 1 on offer of £187, this morning at 8am you could order 2 at that price then at 11am they shot up £13 quid each to £199 lol. Phew, saved 26 quid lol.

Where's the recession then? I keep hearing about it but stuff is going up.
