my new graphics card turned up today xfx 6870 go to install it only to find i dont have enough leads to power it  it requires two power leads where as i only have one my power suply is also only a 450 watt i'm guesing i need to change my power supply ? im in process of upgrading i have the gpu above and was planning on an i5 and motherboard, ssd, what power would i need and more inportantly what power supply would give me all the leads i need? im so gutted:mad:

does the graphics card not come with a molex to 6pin pci-e adaptor?

if in the event it doesnt have a adapter in the box, can you list your pc's spec, also whats the make and model of the current psu you have?

You can get molex to PCIe adapters. If you post the exact spec of your PSU someone more knowledgeable than me will be able to tell you if it is good enough.

Edit: too slow :(

no it only had a crossfire adaptor with it the power supply is a 450w made by CWT i currently have a AMD phenom II x2 550 3400mhz 4 gig mem 1 slot amd radeon 5750 graphics upgrading to mentioned above

just one it must be a very basic power supply i have no spare cables whatso ever! i am going to want to cross fire to in the future so may aswell get a decent power supply now i suppose looks like im going to have to get this one delivered to work so i dont get my behind kicked by the missis !

or does that cable plug in back of hard drive to draw power ? sorry im a bit out of date with comps these days?

that cable just splits one of those white connectors into two, so adding two of those cables will then give you a further two spare, with the other two going back into your drives.

it will make your wiring in the case look like a war zone!!!

before i make my purchase will that psu be powerfull enough for the i5 if i decide to overclock i will all so be watercooling the system but not sure if my current water cooler is up to job! one thing at a time though! will there still be enough juice if i add things on at later date ect.. sorry for all questions.

Its currently happily powering my overclocked i5 760 @ 3.5 ghz, ssd 4GB ram and overclocked GTX580.

I wouldn't exactly bang other 580 in there but im sure there's a fair bit more juice left. So you should be fine
