Hi
Can I have some people views on this
I have had an offer on some geil 4gig
Black dragon DDR 3 pc3 12800 1600hz
Cl 9-9-9-2 would these be ok on my new build
ASUs p8pz68-v pro board and intelligent 1155 2500k chip
Would I get good overclock with this set up
Regards

The RAM won't affect overclocking the processor as this is done by increasing the multiplier and not the base clock.

The RAM will run at the same speed if the processor is at stock or 5GHz.

Ensure the RAM can be run at around 1.5V as that's best for Sandybridge.

hi
not sure what you mean by Ensure the RAM can be run at around 1.5V
but on both memory sticks it say's 2gb pc3-12800 cL=9-9-9-28
gb34gb 1600c9dc
1.6v

so i presume you are talking about the 1.6v
is that good or bad? or do i need to take them back?
regards

Surveyor is talking about the voltage at which the RAM runs. For the longest life span of your CPU, you want RAM that will run at 1.5v. The maximum a SB chip can take is 1.65v so you are under limit.

It might be possible for you to decrease the voltage and not notice any stability issues, but unless you are going to be keeping the same chip for more than a good few years, then I would not worry about it too much.
