hi guys, i really need your help.
i ordered 8gb's of corsair vengeance 1600mhz ram, and it came today...
i installed the ram into my motherboard.
However when it gets to "windows is loading" i get a blue screen and my system restarts.
I've tried each stick separately, to try narrow down the problem - they both seem to work.

please help me get this ram to work!!!...

Have you set the memory spec up manually in the BIOS - if not do so? (if you need guidance post back)

Also, test each stick with memtest using a bootable ISO as this should identify the faulty stick if one is corrupt. Booting into windows with each stick is not enough to test the integrity of a slightly corrupt stick - it will need stress via memtest to isolate the problematic stick.

the motherboard is really old, and has no options in the BIOS to change anything.
initialy i thourght that it may be the case that my motherboard doesn't support 8gb's of ram, then i found this. http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=105835&ft=M&st=1

I've quickly googles your MB and get conflicting results as to the max memory - having said that i can't find the manufacturer's site via my token google search.

If you can find your MB manufacturer's site i would clarify what the maximum amount of memory can be installed and also update to the latest BIOS as this usually improves memory compatibilty.

But still run memtest...

i have run memtest in my bios.
the ram passed without any errors, however when i tried to do a system repair - it said there was a uncontrolable hardware issue.
edit: how do i update my BIOS

If you have a motherboard from a Medion Pre built system then I doubt they will have any BIOS updates as those systems are generally meant to run as they are without much upgrade.

If you're having trouble with the system your best bet may be to source a decent socket 1156 motherboard that will accept those ram sticks, and probably cause you less headaches in the future with other possible issues/limitations.

im buying the i5 2500k and asrock z68 extreme gen 3 1155 in march, i guess i will just have to wait it out.
i just wanted to find out if the ram was faulty or not, so i would know whether to send them back.

bump, i just went into the bios and disabled memory remapping, whatever that does.
now i can boot into windows, everything is fine.
please can some one explain this to me?. it still dosent work with memory remapping enabled...

i sound like an idiot now, not like anyone is reading this.
i looked at the total physical memory, turns out with memory remapping it made me down to 3.2gb.
so i figured i would be better off sticking with my 4gb till i get a new motherboard.
