Hi. Pc had some problems with the ssd not booting. It would work fine and then come up with no such partition found, grub rescue. I've had to fix the boot with the windows 8.1 disk a few times. The last time I did it worked fine for a while but now it just wont boot up with both memory sticks installed. Tried them in different slots and the odd time it would work until I reboot then its back to not booting. Works fine though with one of the memory sticks. I also tried booting with the other stick alone and it doesn't boot, now what?

have a check if your running the latest BIOS.

The other option which can cause memory issues bar having a faulty stick is bent pins in the socket. Can you test the memory in another machine?

If not might it might be worth having having a quick socket check :(

I cant test in another machine. Bios is up to date and tried clearing cmos also. Tried the stick that works in each of the sockets and it works in each one.

Ah, you might have a faulty memory stick, if one world in both slots and not the other then I would look at RMA the memory.

what you need to do is test each stick in a known working ram slot

if like you say it boots with the one stick yet wont with the other stick (in the same booting slot)

then you need to rma the ram as one stick is dead or faulty

Update. :o not the memory doh!

It failed to boot again but this time with the good stick of RAM. Took it out and tried another slot and it worked. Managed to do a memtest on it and its fine. That led me to think its not the RAM. Initially when I put the pc together I did update the bios using gigabytes @BIOS. Re-flashed the motherboard using usb this time. Everything seems to work fine. Put the other memory stick in and thats working too. Currently doing memtest on them to be sure but its looking good.
