Hi guys got the z97 soc force, and amd 290 tri x oc sapphire, the dvi to vga connector didnt arrive in the box, i had one spare but this has 4 addition pins to which the amd card does not, is it possible to use the onboard connector ( VGA) but let the graphics card render the games?

Are you using a monitor with only VGA input?

yes crt 160hz i play fps

The answer to your question is no, you can't connect the monitor to the onboard GPU and have the 290 do the work.

Your screwed.

You need to get a different card or upgrade your monitor.

144HZ TN panels aren't that bad to use in fps games.

Edit,

You can get HDMI or DP to VGA adapters, but I got no idea if they are any good or work.

Google suggests you need a DVI-D to VGA Active Adapter Converter Cable.

Not cheap though ~ £28.
