but all it does now is start up the fans and the leds and turn off again. it keeps repeating this cycle.

my setup is:
i5 2500k @ 4.5 ghz
4gb ram corsair xms 3 1333mhz
msi p67s c43 rev3
gtx 560ti 1gb ocd to 950mhz.
1tb hdd spinpoint f3
chieftech 550watt psu

please tell.me this is fixable!

no how does resetting cmos work?
i cant even get in the bios

There is going to be a jumper/switch on the motherboard. Some people just remove the battery as it does the same thing. It will reset the motherboard settings to default so would clear your overclock.

Reset CMOS, as above.

Try with a single stick of memory, too.

Failing that, attempt to reseat everything.

Had a quick look who Cheiftech are, made by Delta and tend to be 80+ certified.

i got the jumper out now. is this also the bat
tery. im waiting 10min to put in on clearing data. can i turn it on when its on clearing data or do i have to put it on clear data wait 10min and put it on normal again before swirching it on ?

Resetting the bios using the reset jumper only takes a few seconds. The procedure will be detailed in the motherboard manual.

It's normally:

  1. Disconnect power
  2. Move jumper as per manual
  3. Wait a few seconds
  4. Move jumper back
  5. Reconnect power
You may find that your motherboard has a reset switch rather than a jumper.

If that doesn't work then you can try the battery out and wait for 10 minutes option. You'll need to have the power disconnected while you do this, so you obviously can't use the PC during the reset.

How did you end up with a PC overclocked to 4.5GHz without knowing how to reset the bios?
