Hi, I assume its my PSU or CPU fan is doing overtime when im doing nothing but browsing the net, it seems to be getting louder. ive had the case open and its not dusty, theres plenty of space near the air vents, im not running any demanding programs. any help would be appreciated,

My basic set up is (dont laughj lol)

16gb Ram DDR3
AMD FX 8150 8 core 3.60 ghz
AMD Radeon 6900 series
windows 7 64 bit
 
Hello and welcome to the forum :)

Have you checked your systems temps with software like HW Monitor or Real Temp.

What fans are you using and how are they connected?

You might need to invest in a fan speed controller.

And please list PSU & Case make and model
 
thanks for the reply, dont know what case and fans or PSU they are....altho just had a look inside and its the CPU fan going like mad, ive only had it on 20 mins! i havent used any of those programs as i wouldnt know the 1st thing about setting the speeds
 
hmmm downloaded HWMonitor its showing the min speed of fans as 5487 rpm and max 6617 rpm, current temp 33 oC......?
 
If it is the stock cooler and you want it quiet, its a bit of a lost cause. The 8150 is already too toast under load for the stock fan, so reducing speed should be avoided. Replacing it with something better and quieter would be the best solution, if your current cooler is the stock cooler.
 
thats cool...(bad pun), prolly is the cooler, what would you recommened? thinking of getting a new set up anyway, will have £700 to play with....give or take a few quid
 
I recommend keeping the RAM, hard drives and selling the rest to add to the £700 budget. Plenty of cash to build a pretty strong rig on 1150 socket. Quite late atm but if no one throws a spec your way by tomorrow ill put up my recommendations.

What are your full lists of parts? (as many are likely re-usable and will save some cash)

Also, what are your uses for the PC?

If it is gaming, what games and resolution?
 
£700 is a respectable amount without reselling anything.. especially considering the fella hasn't even stated what the computer's intended uses are..

A simple upgrade path would tend to be Motherboard + CPU + Ram (primary 3 components - in this case he can keep his existing ram to save cash if need be), with storage and other components being as necessity requires. You can do those 3 parts for £200 - £400 and have a solid foundation to build upon(and how powerful you need it to be), anything else is pretty much here and there, and down to your requirements and personal choices.

Cheers for the replies, the rig will be used for gaming...wolfenstein, sniper elite 3, gta v (when it's released ha), etc. Tend to play in 1080p when I can
