Lo all
I'm looking for some advice.
I have an old C2D machine that I've upgraded in bits over time.
I ran it stock for a while at 1.86 then upgraded the motherboard to a GA-G33M-DS2R (rated to 1333mhz) which was recommended bought from OCUK.
then I bought some OCZ ram on offer, a pack of 2x1GB PC2-6400 400mhz
it's only cooling on air via a copper HSF.
anyway I managed to get it to 2.45mhz without any stresses.
FSB about 348 I think
multiplier 7x
the memory was running about 800mhz as it should
and I added some minor volts to the CPU
worked a treat for months.
then last week something went a bit wrong.
the bios reset everything back to basic. I didn't even notice for a while.
Since then I can't get the clock to work.
I've tried one and then the other memory module in different slots.
I've tried clocking the FSB up to 1333 or there abouts but dropping the multiplier to 6x so the CPU is at stock.
I've tried upping the memory but keeping the CPU stock
and I've tried clocking the CPU but dropping the memory FSB or keeping it the same
Everytime the POST screen comes up...thinks, then reboots and resets the BIOS.
The only thing that is odd is the the memory post test is slow and stalls initially. That's why I tested the memory out but swapping it around (unless both sticks are faulty at the same time)
any help or suggestions appreciated
cheers
