Hey all

right ive got bit of a problem ive just built up a new pc

Abit IP35
Q6600
OCZ 4GB ram
and all rest of stuff i guessing u dont need to know

so when i turn my pc on i come to a screen what says "ABIT" and it tells me to press "DEL" to enter setup but none of my keyboards will work for some reason, ive tryed 1 keyboard whats ps2 and another 1 is USB but had no luck and theres nothing at all wrong we these keyboards so im left clueless

so any of you computer geniuses have any idea why this is doing this?

ps.admins if you dlete threads like this after theyve been answered plz wait till tomorro night because i might not see this till after work

Kinda vague.... so youve built the computer, and everything works fine, but you can't access the BIOS because you can't detect the keyboard ?

If thats the case, id say its a motherboard fault, and it would be worth flashing the BIOS to the latest version via memory stick/CD. If that dosnt work then it may be RMA time.

Dont worry about that, they hang around for ages on here.

how can he flash the bios without a keyboard?
 
Have you tried this with 1 stick of ram in? If it works, enter bios and set the default DDR2 voltage to whatever the OCZ manufacturers recommended is.

But he cant get into the BIOS to change it...

You have booted into Windows etc I assume? You arent just trying to get the BIOS working first? See if the keyboard will work in Windows, then go back and try the BIOS again.

how would he have installed windows without a keyboard?

and manic does your mb overolt ** ram? if not, what bios you using?
 
No, mine undervolts RAM-only gives it 1.8v, Ive had to up it by .4v.

Can you not install windows with only a mouse? I may be totally wrong, but I dont remember really using a keyboard except for typing in my username and stuff...at least he could get into the Windows installation process and see if the keyboard works during that.

and thanks Bony Maloney for your suggestion it worked and now ive managed to install xp and now just got to sort out bios settings

any1 got any clue what volts THIS RAM will need ive got 2 pair of them, the ram only came we a peice of card board saying ocz ram so cant get any info from that

how'd you do the key code?

You cant if the keyboard doesnt work-my point was that you could test the keyboard in the "keycode input" section of the Windows install. Anyway, doesnt matter now-seems like the problem is pretty much resolved.
