I've had the above laptop for just over a year and its worked fine, but now selling it off as I have no need for it, so went ahead with restoring back to factory settings with the included vista recovery discs. This worked fine except now the power button doesnt work. Normally when laptop is on it glows blue, if in standby it flashes blue.

Im certain it cant be hardware as this has only come about since I did a fresh install of vista.

Checked in device manager and under System Devices>ACPI Power Button it says its working correctly
Driver Provider: Microsoft
Driver Date: 21/06/2006
Driver Version: 6.0.6001.18000
Digital Signer: Microsoft

Clicking on Driver Details comes up with this
No driver files are required or have been loaded for this device

Any help appreciated as I've been battling this for the past hour trying to find some kinda fix

Is it some touch sensitive design? All I can think of is that it is a driver issue, had something similar on the Dell lappy when wiped it, except with eject button.

its a push in button.... I can shut down and open it up as thankfully the annoying built in software allows for an alternative way to power up the laptop followed by a quick press of a function key to change the boot option (finally found a use for that software at least)

I'm so annoyed right now lol
