help : power connector stuck :S

ok guys had some power connection problems with my laptop for a while now where either the wire was faulty or the connection to the laptop itself was at fault. basically it is very hit and miss if the ac power adaptor is picked up by the laptop, now after my parents have used it the power cable won't come out of the back of it? any ideas?

anybody suggest anything? i'm really at a loss here and my last hope is to take apart the laptop to scratch and see if there's anything i can see or do from there!
