I have bought a GA-H170TN mobo cheap and getting some bits new and old together to get a cheap build done. Only problem I have is I notice this motherboard is not powered like normal ATX boards with 24 pin connector from a PSU. It has the option to use a DC external power supply or a PSU which connects via a 2 pin power connector on the board. Now I have ordered a Cool Master Lite PSU and looking at other PSU's I have lying about I do not see any with a 19v 2 pin connector. Do I need some sort of specialist connector to use a regular PSU to power this?

I opted for a PSU over a external supply so I can power hdd's and such. Plus have a spare PSU for in a time of need.

Here is a description and specs of said power input: DC Input: The GA-H170TN can be powered with a *regulated 19V DC external power supply though the DC jack on the back panel board or internally via the 1x2 Mini-Fit JR power connector (Molex 5566-2). Not suitable for use connected directly to a battery.*

I think you'll have an easier time attaching a DC power supply (laptop power brick; a lot of generic ones are 19v) than finding a PSU that delivers 19V (afaik normal PSUs deliver on 12, 5 and 3.3v rails so no 19v option there).

It's possible that some small form factor PSUs have this, but I wouldn't be shocked if Gigabyte expect you to use a proprietary thing that only they make.

The problem that you have is that the board is intended to be used in a AIO pc such as a NUC or Brix so you are going to have to use parts related to those sort of systems. Probably why it was cheap and by the time you have it all up and running you may have spent more than you would have on a conventional system. I would look at getting a refund and buying a normal board.
