Help......printer sharing

I have:

A desktop hardwired to my router (netgear dg834gt)and my printer HP PSC 2355, this does the full range of comedy printing etc.

My GF has a laptop which connects to the internet wirelessly via the Netgear, i cannot get the two computers to see one another. The drivers are installed for the printer.The printer is cofigured for sharing.

I have run the M$ network set up on both and set the same parameters, network name etc. I have tried getting access to the others computer via the View workgroup computers. I can see the desktop from the Laptop but not the other way round. From the desktop I get an error message saying i do not have permission to use this network resource blah blah blah. i cant

I just could do with getting the printer working if possible.

check your firewall settings.

yep, best to disable the firewall on the laptop and pc and see which is the problem.

check the firewall settings on the laptop.

check to see if you can access it like this:

start --> run --> \\<laptop_hostname> enter

if that doesn't work, then

start --> run --> \\<laptop_ipaddress> enter

if neither of those work, it's a problem with your firewall.
