OK I only ever game at 1920x1080, no higher, won't be getting dual monitors or a 27" <insert res more than 1920 here>

Is the 7970 overkill? Would a 1.5gb 580GTX be enough? I don't play BF3.

Currently on a 5850

Itchy buying finger, the 7970 can be had for £450 and the 580GTX £365.

I also want to put whichever card on W/C

Guessing a 570 wouldn't be a massive leap over a 5850? I suppose there is the option of putting it in SLi.

You can get CF 6950s for just under £400 on here but to be honest if you aren't playing BF3 just get one of them and save a lot of cash for something else.

Yeah I tried CF on the 5850s and experienced microstutter so wonder if the 6950 would be the same.

I guess fastest single card available. I only play LoTRO, SWToR and Skyrim these days. Maybe some Black Ops now and then.

Wait for 7950s first to see price difference or custom cooler 7970s.

In my view for the games you are playing it's not really worth spending so much on a card....i mean my 580 doesn't struggle at all at 1920x1200 even in BF3 so i do not see how a 570/6950 would struggle for you.

Just get a single 570 or a single 6950 and you'll be set for next year or so of badly ported xbox/ps3 games =DDDD

Thinking 6950 for the one reason it has 2Gb memory as opposed to the 1.25gb for the 570.

Other thing is that in CF it seems to beat a 7970...
