Hi,

Not sure if this is software or hardware related...

Basically in pretty much any game i try to run after about 10 mins it freezes for about 10 seconds and displays the error in the image below. The game will then resume but crash 1 - 2 mins later with the same message. It will do this about 5 times before totally crashing the game out to desktop.

I have tried completly uninstalling the catalyst drivers using ati's uninstall tool and then reinstalling the latest cats from the ati website. I have also tried resetting all settings to default.

My system is:

P4 3.2Ghz (with HT) / 800Mhz Bus
512MB RAM
250Gb Hard Drive / SATA
ATI Radeon 9600XT (VIVO-Model)
Windows XP Home

Any help appreciated

I thought it was overheating myself actually. Havnt tried any other cards. It works ok on Unreal Tournament, but crashes on all other games i have tried including oldies like Return to castle wolfenstein. Is there any free program that can test the card for problems ?

Could well be that it's overheating, the fan on that card is tiny! They used it on the 9800SE, it gets really hot as the fan can't cool the heatsink quick enough. What's the overall ventilation in your case like in terms of intake and exhausts?

I had a 9600xt that used to crash out on me as well. Replaced the stock HSF with Arctic Cooling ATI Silencer and never had any problems after that.

weird !

i used to have a 9550 that i flashed the bios to make it a 9600pro on and it still worked great passively even after the fan fell off during transport :o :p
