Help!!! (RAM )

Hi,
I have a small problem, the ram that i use is capable of running at 1066 Mhtz but every time i set this in the bios the computer becomes verry unstable and likes to crash. I would understand if i was pushing it over its rated compatibility but anyway this is why i am here, i must be doing something rong?

My System:
Motherboard: ASUS P5E Delux X48
Processor: Intel Quad Q6600 @2.4Ghtz (Low watt edition)
RAM: OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 Platinum 4GB Edition Dual Channel
Graphics: 2X ATI HD Radeon 4670 Crossfire

Bios is default. Any overclocking Help would also be apreceated e.g processor at 2.8 or 3.0 Ghtz, ram at 1200Mhtz. i have read tutorials and have a basic knowledge but i am still obviously fresh to the subject.

You have a point il keep the topic in this one, the settings you have sent are exacty what i got, i have also updated the bois the ram is only stable at 800Mhtz
 
yes definatly, every thing is set to auto, dram frequency set to 1066Mhtz and tried manualy putting in the voltage and timings, im completly stuck, its ment to be supported
 
iv also done that, but at 2.2v the comp doesent even start and says overclock failed. at least with the correct settings i can run windows and to be fair it only crashes when im being aplication heavy. and just rembered windows does display an error code il make sure i post it next time it crashes. btw i appreciate the help.
 
when i say stabe i mean usable and being heavy with aplications. it was only crashing at 1066Mhtz when i was playing games i.e C & C, music, downloads ect all at the same time, i havent done any memtests yet but i have flashed the bois with a different version second from the latest and the problem seems to be fixed. Been using it for the day heavly with no problems, im not sure if this is a bios update problem or i was unlucky enough to have two dodgy bois writes, like i say im not that clued up but even so it works now lol, thanks again.
