Hi

I have bought a MSI gt60 PC2 Dominator; while it is great, I just cant help thinking that it needs for memory. It has currently 8 gb, max upgradable to 32; I'm only looking for an extra 8, and was just wondering, what kind of ram it needs?

My reasons are I'm not just looing extra ram for gaming purposes, I'm doing a lot of photo editing on the fly, so it's a bit of a multitasker.

Cheers

ideally, you want the same one as it is there now (timings, frequency etc)

what's the current config, 1x8 or 2x4?

Hi

It's 1x8, with three slots free. The reason I haven't opened it up is due to the warranty, I've been in contact with MSI, still waiting on a reply.

Since it's an upgradable part I should not have an issue, fingers crossed.

I've been told its 204-pin SODIMM DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz, I just want to get all the info available before I take the plunge.

I've never heard of anyone's warranty being void by upgrading the memory.

you can use something like speccy to find out exactly what memory you have, but I'd just open the thing up and had a look for myself.

then simply buy the same stick and you're done.

Hi,

There was a piece of tape that is strategically place over one of the holes that are need to access the system, and saying 'Warrenty sticker, void if tampered'. I thought it was strange too, but I suppose I have to go through the proper channels.

Cheers
