Help recomend me a digital camera please

Hi all

Need some help, im buying the wife a digital camera for her birthday but i really dont have a clue whats what with cameras :confused:

Im on a tight budget and was looking at around £80 any recommendations??

I did look at the SAMSUNG D1070 BLACK simply because of the high 10MP count and the SONY DSC-S730 SILVER 7.2MP because my mate has a 5MP sony cybershot which is really nice from what ive seen but like i said i dont have a clue if these are any good or not.

Any advice is greatly appreciated as i need to get it before this sat

Anyone? Ive done a search but most the help peeps have given are for a higher budget than i can afford and i want the most from me £80

What about something from the Canon range?

Canon Outlet: Digital IXUS IZ Black (Refurbished)

From eBay for about £50. 5mp, slim and being a canon most likely produces very good quality shots. Looks nice too.

Ive never really looked as i dont know what brand is a good one to go for, what brand cameras are most popular? oh would be nice to get one with half decent battery life

Canon are good, I know that for a fact. Wether they are the top make for digicams I don't know but it's a very solid bet that any camera by them will be good for the money in my opinion.

Nikon, Sony and Panasonic would also generally be good as well.
