Hi, looking for recommendations for a VHS-DVDR combi, my only objective is to record all my old tapes onto DVD and then sell the machine again.

Would like something that record onto dual layer (what happens at the layer break?) allowing me to record 3 hour VHS tapes in high quality.

Also need autochapter, is the Panasonic DMR-EZ45VEBS any good?

Thanks

You say you wish to record the VHS in 2 hour "high quality".

Well, the quality will only be VHS quality. I would say a reular DVDR in LP mode is more than good enough for this task.

I have always been a fan of Panasonic recorders and their VHS/DVDR Combi are excellent.

The other option is to buy a regular DVD recorder and connect a VHS to it via scart.

Yes, I've done some PC capture in the past, the quality was very variable, depending on the software etc, the biggest effect on quality was the difference between composite and SVHS output.

So, I'm looking for something that will record all of detail that would be present in a svhs output.

HI, I cant find any software that will capture to mpeg2 dvd format with autochapters, so will choose the lazy and expensive way of a dedicated machine

Are the cassettes regular VHS or SVHS?

Why not use your PC to do it?
