Hi all. After digging through many posts here and coming up with what I think is a pretty decent build I've run into a couple of snags. Now my aim was to get a build that I could over clock and would be pretty future proof. The rig will be used for gaming and general media use like itunes movies etc. There will be no intensive programs used other than gaming of course. I already have a 5870 card and a 22" screen so don't need those.

So heres my build : (questions after)

Now I like all of it apart from the price. So can any one suggest a build that would shave of about £200 but give the same 3.8/4 GHZ performance. Key points for my is a case with a similar styling to the Fortess but will of course house a single 5870 now but later on two (a power supply that supports two is essential), simplicity in construction (its my first self build) and something with room to expand and improve over time.

Fingers crossed I can get some good suggestions here. But if people think I should just stay with this and buy it over a couple of months then that also would be welcomed.

Thanks

I had looked at the Raven case but the window appears to be on the opposite side to the Fortress and on my desk that would put it flat against the wall.

As for i5, if it gives me the same performance then thats an option.

You could drop down to an i5, or even switch to a PII X4 965, the new 125W seems to easily hit 4ghz stable on a h50. although switching to AMD would mean dropping your RAM to 4gb, probably at lower speeds. Although that shouldn't affect gaming much

You forgot a CPU and have specced triple channel RAM (AMD setups use dual channel)

Thanks for picking that out. Missed the Ram thing.

Ok here goes.

As if he's gonna take your build advice now after you suggested the wrong ram and no cpu :D:D

I'd go for the :Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R Intel X58, if you don't need the extra ram and sata ports on the Asus board, saves you about £30 and it's a great board.

Also 2 1TB drives? I doubt your gonna need all that space right away so i'd just order one for now and maybe pick up another one of those later on?

Your case im sure you could knock some money off their to but you seem to have a certain taste on what you want so you'd probably be best off doing that yourself!
