The wiper motor on my car has burnt out (quite literally, it stinks and I want to remove it whilst I wait for a replacement).

I'm struggling to remove it. There are three bolts (pictured below) holding it in place. They have an odd pattern I've not seen before and can't find on the net. I've got me hand behind the panel where they're attached and they seem secured by a butterfly nut but with 3 wings rather than 2. It also seems closed - the end of the nut is smooth and has no hole/bolt sticking out. Either way, holding it in place with a clamp and trying to remove the other with pliars isn't working and I think I've nearly ruined one bolt trying. I've already gouged that one out with a torx trying to get it to bed in and turn.

Anyway, any help much appreciated as I'm getting frustrated and daylight is running out. I would like to remove it before work tomorrow as I take people out in my car.

The 'bolt'. The plastic which the motor assembly sits on sat between two rubber rings between the body and bolt. It looks like it could slide off but the three anchoring points are opposing so this would be impossible as it is.

The nut behind. Got my phone in there for a pic.

Here's the whole assembly.

Looks like carefully drilling it out is the only option.
I would post on relevant car forums, or even ask for advice at local dealer.

That looks like a rivet to me.

100% sure its a rivet.

once you have drilled through the 'top' part with the hole it should fall apart.

Eurgh, that is not good. Might get someone to do it in that case. I have browsed the various Clio forums but they seem to gloss over how they do this part (it would appear rear wiper deletion is somewhat popular amongst Cliosport owners).

Its very easy.

Just attack it with a hss bit.

however you will need suitable rivets & a rivet gun to replace it.

Yeah, there is relatively tight access to the back, enough to hold a bolt anyway. Absolute ballache for such a simple thing to remove. Managed to snap the drillbit in one of the rivets so opted to used brute force with a pliar and rip off the heads - it worked without any damage to the inside panel. They were quite soft metal rivets.

Thanks for the help everyone, much obliged!

Looks like the rear wiper arm has seized onto the textured bit of the screw. No amount of firm tapping (hammer), WD40 and wrangling it about is loosening it.

Edit: I have removed the bolt, to be clear.

Not sure. I've ordered a wiper arm puller and replacement motor - both of them here by Tuesday in time for my day off Wednesday. Will do them then. I guess until then I'll just find a way to fix the motor and arm in place so it doesn't flap about.
