Not sure where to get help on this, and have sat on the phone to BT in a queue on numerous calls but never get to speak to anyone.
One day our BT landline phone stopped working, ie no dial tone. It is currently plugged into a secondary socket which is hard wired off of the main stocket where the core cables come in from outside. I am not using an extension cable.
Both main and secondary sockets have microfilters on them and had worked fine up to this point. The situation is as follows. With all equipment disconnected the phone works fine in both sockets. Putting a microfilter on just one socket and then connecting the phone through the microfilter works fine. But the moment two microfilters are connected no dial tone is available.
Anyone have any ideas here?
For completion when it was working fine we had sky and broadband into the microfilter on the main socket, then a phone in the microfilter on the extension. For testing I have not conneceted the sky or broadband cables.
