Hi All,

I'm really stuck with this one.

New Hardware being tested out of case:

P5Q - Pro
E8300
4GB (2x2gb)Corsair DHX 6400 4-4-4-12 and Geil Black Dragon Quad 6400 (4x1gb)
ATI 3870 512
Giabyte Odin 800W
AC Freezer 7 pro

The problem is Prime95 (blend) and memtest+ are failing on stock. Basic bios settings, all in line with appropriate stock voltages and timings. Prime fails after a few hours, metest at the end of test 3 - everytime, no matter what ram.

I have tried another set of ram (the geil), and exactly the same.

Prime was stable for 11 hours (i stopped it) when running small tft's.

I'm stuck on this one... Board? Ram(doubt all six sticks are bad - tried in pairs)? CPU?

All new so i have no history with any of it - except the 4 geil ram sticks.

Any help appreciated,

PoDd :)

1st things 1st, make sure you've got the correct voltage going to the ram...stock doesn't always mean it's gets the default........usually the bios undervolts the RAM a little bit

yeh, by stock i don't mean Auto.

All set to how it should be: 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1 @ 800mhz.

I've since tried the ram in a friends pc and it passes memtest fine.

So, PSU? CPU, MB?

How to tell?

Cheers,

PoDd :)

Tried northbridge upto .2 above default, in stages, no joy.

One thing i noticed, the motherboard is supposed to set the FSB term minimum volts to 1.1 if a 45nm cpu is detected. I have a wolfdale and the lowest available to me is 1.2?

Not detecting the 45nm?

Yep, update your BIOS.

If the memory is working fine on another machine then it's most likely to be a faulty memory controller or bus. For intel, this will be a faulty motherboard (for the time being)

At the mo there is only the initial relese bios available for this board (could be the issue), and yep, each stick fails individually...

Gonna RMA the board,

Thanx for the help folks...

PoDd :)
