Since around Xmas 2007, my better half has taken ownership of my AMD Socket 939 gaming system, which is essentially:-

Asrock Dual-SATA2 (onboard sound and LAN)
Opteron 165 (dual core, 1.8GHz)
Nvidia 7800GT PCI-E
2x1GB Gskill HZ pc-4000
Vista x64

By and large, it has coped fine with her normal current gaming needs, most notiably Sims2 and Spore (although it takes a while to return to desktop).

With Sims3 due in 2009, I thought that a memory boost would be a good investment, in hindsight I regret not buying two sets of that Gskill HZ.

Has anyone had personal sucess in mixing a "OCZ Technology 2x1GB 184DIMM PC3200 Platinum" with that Gskill HZ? I'm tempted to get 4x1GB of the OCZ memory to eliminate compatability hassles, unless there are positive stories from this thread.

i was mixing twinmoss's bugged not-working-in-any-dual-chan-board 512mb pc3200 mixed in with ballistix 4000 with no issue (just had to be carefull how the slots were loaded. slot 1, pair 1 = balistix, slot 2 pair 1 twinmoss slot 1 pair 2 balistix slot 2 pair 2 twinmoss

that was with a 4800+ and it worked ok. - buy 2 sticks, see if it works. if not buy 2 more. easy
