Hey guys,

I have a bit of a dilemma. I really want to upgrade my TV in my spare room from 32" to something bigger, unfortunately I'm limited due to the ''TV cabinet'' we have. You can see the problem with the below picture, Ideally I wanted 42" but measuring up my 42" downstairs the screen would just fit and thats without a stand.

Do you think I could get a 40" in the dimensions I require? 37" I don't feel it's worth upgrading too!

Hacking up the unit is not what I want as a TV would fit wall mounted I suppose.

Any help greatly appreciated! :)

this 40 inch samsung if i read it rightly would fit

Samsung LE40R87BDX

26.2 Kg Weight Inc Packaging (Approx)
Without Ped-991x107.3x654.6.2 With Ped > 991.5x300x697.5 mm (W/H/D) Dimensions

LE40M86/87 just fits, height on my set is 688mm. Not enough space for ventilation IMO, the top vents need a bit of space as it gets quite hot. Could you could out the shelf above it?

Hmmm, bit out of my budget that one. I've been seeing some 42" TV's for about £650-700 so was hoping I could have found a 40" for a bit cheaper?

What about a 42" commerical Panasonic panel? They have very slim bezels around the edge.

The TH42PH10 is: (WxHxD): 1020x610x89mm

Sorry I took upgrade rather literally, didnt realise you were just after a bigger screen to fill a hole :p

An M86/87 would certainly need a seperate audio system with its rear facing speakers!

Good observation, the shelf already looks bowed.

Nah, that's my trusty camera work. It's suppose to hold 18kg so I'm alright. But I have taken into account a 40" will be 20kg+ so I've decided against getting a bigger TV now.

Cheers anyway

The plasma I recommended would probably snap the shelf. LOL!

I think that TV looks good there, if any bigger you may notice flaws in SD pictures which is rather annoying!

I only wanted to upgrade because my GF has a 42" downstairs and I'm jealous (I even bought the bloody TV!!)

Instead I'm going to buy another 32" for upstairs so she can use that :p
