HELP!! Second GPU is running at load at idle??

Okay so crossfire is doing my head in now! I've tried all sorts of drivers and it's still doing it now!

First of all MSI Afterburner is showing that GPU1 and GPU2 that's fine but it's showing them the wrong way round! My top card for some reason is GPU2 and my bottom card is GPU1.

Now According to AB, my bottom card is running at load even though i'm not doing anything and it's at idle! My top card shows this cos it's behaving normally.

Has anyone encountered this before?? How do i fix it?


It all started when i was testing out drivers and all of a suddent when using 10.12's my top gpu went to 99% load so i restarted and went back to 11.4's which is when this problem started to occur. I thought ok maybe a driver error so i installed 11.5's and still it's there! What is going on

Are you using the latest version of MSI Afterburner?

No this it's an older version. I just swapped the cards around and it's showing exactly the same result.

Think i may have corrupted a driver somewhere or maybe a windows driver???

Really dont wanna do a clean install of windows...

Okay i noticed if i run GPU-Z then it will go back to IDLE.. WTH is going on?!?! CPU-Z shows that the second card is running at load aswel

When I was using MSI Afterburner 2.0.0, my 5850 would NEVER down clock at idle when it is overclocked. Updating to 2.1.0 of MSI Afterburner sorted this problem.

If you have a look at MSI Afterburner's 2.1.0's update description, it clearly mentioned that the new version fixed a problem with the power control for 5xxx series:
"Fixed low-level memory clock monitoring for some mid-range AMD RADEON 5xxx series graphics cards using QDR control related power saving technologies"

I've just installed the new msi AB and it's still doing it , it only seems to go away if i run GPU-Z?
