Help selecting a gaming rig!

Hey all. I'm sure these threads must get annoying, but I do need some help.

Basically, I'm looking to get a new gaming rig. I want to be able to have this built by Overclockers, as I am not comfortable doing so myself. I want to spend about £800, £900 max if possible, though I >can< push that a bit of need be. No monitor or such needed, just the tower.

My problem is, theres a few ways to meet that kind of range on Overclockers. Do I get a cheaper base system and select some of the upgrades? Do I go for one of the higher range systems and leave it as be?

Should I stick with i5, or is getting i7 important?

So, if anyone can help, it'd be appreciated. :)

What would you like the PC for -- if you're into games then more will be spent on the gfx card, if you just need an office pc then you may be able to spend less and if you need a renderer/CAD PC then a multi-core CPU such as I7 or hexcore is more appropriate.

At the moment the sweet spot is normally a p67/z68 board, i2500k cpu, 6850 gfx card for all round performance.
 
Jennidc: This is very much a gaming rig. But as I'm not building this myself (do not have nearly the confidence to!), I'm looking at the gaming range overclockers offers.

Stone22uk: I have a copy of Windows 7 I can install myself, but I do not know the process of installing a OS onto a blank pc. Is it simply insert disk and go through the usual process?
 
If you have the OS disc, you just need to insert the disc then boot the PC and it should fire up into the windows 7 installer, and then its a case of following the on screen instructions.

Just to make sure it is a 64 bit version of Windows 7 you have?
 
Yep, 64 bit. So thats a bit off the cost, good. :)

And silly me, I just realised that you can order the components you want and Overclockers will assemble them...

But yes. £800 preferable budget, £900 pushing it... Do not need OS, monitor, keyboard or mouse. Gaming rig. I'm guessing that i7 processor isn't essential going by what you get out of it for its value.

If so, then that changes everything, the above specs you will need to assemble yourself.
