Hey guys,

I'm currently wondering what the best method for selling a large number of servers is.
I have 77 servers to sell all Dell and ranging from quite old Poweredge's to Poweredge 2850.
Would you think selling them individually or as one Massive job lot?

Shipping is going to be a nightmare, i doubt there will be enough people in Edinburgh come collect them haha

If anyone has sold a large quantity of old server, what was your approach?

Cheers
Em

Look in some of the IT trade mags, often adverts in there for companies wanting to buy old server stock.

Flog them on the bay maybe?

Know of any companies that will just take it all of my hands? Gray market traders or whoever they are?

if they got windows licensing still on them that should help getting rid, so many servers i see for sale and they have them removed.

Are they 2850's and older? unless its already pretty high spec (dual cpu with a decent chunk of ram) you wont be looking at more than £80 a unit. Obviously depends on spec etc and as above if you have any OEM licences attached that could also help.

Unfortunately even 2850's are 6years+ old, the biggest issue you will have if you sell them online is packaging them up in suitable boxes / bubble wrap

We are now just looking for a used IT trader to come and take them, and give what ever they think its all worth to charity.
So really need to find some company which will come and get it all. Know of any?

Give them away to local schools, a lot of schools in the country are always after things like that, most barely get enough money to keep things ticking over.

go to www.edugeek.net and see see if anyone local wants them. :)
