Just about to build this system:

Gigabyte ds4 rev3
Crucial ballistics Tracer 5300
Intel core duo 6300

When i boot in bios for the 1st time , i take it this memory will be at default 5300 setting and speed , voltage ,etc.

I take it if i leave it at default i will loose a lot of performance on fsb side of things. What adjustments would you advise me to make in bios ?

Also i have never OCed before but i will overclock after a week or so just to let the cpu settle in 1st :D

Thanks again ;)

Is that the 4-4-4-10 stuff?

If so, hit Ctrl and F1 together on the main BIOS screen to unlock the memory settings.

Then change the memory voltage (vdimm) to +4 (2.2v) and the first four timings to 4, 4, 4 and 10 respectively.

This is the memory specs:

2GB kit (1GBx2) DDR2 PC2-5300 • 3-3-3-12 • UNBUFFERED • NON-ECC • DDR2-667 • 2.2V • 128Meg x 64

Module Specifications:

* Module Size: 2GB kit (1GBx2)
* Package: Ballistix Tracer 240-pin DIMM (with LEDs)
* Feature: DDR2 PC2-5300
* Configuration: 128Meg x 64
* DIMM Type: UNBUFFERED
* Error Checking: NON-ECC
* Speed: DDR2-667
* Voltage: 2.2V
* Memory Timings: 3-3-3-12

I believe that's supposed to be kick booty ram so you should be able to clock the nadgers off it! :cool:

As i'm a C2D newbie i'll leave it to a pro to help you out though! ;)

Sorry! :(

It sounds just the same as the CAS3 standard Ballistix then.

Do as I mentioned above, except set the timings to 4-4-4-12. They should see you to ~1000mhz. You *may* need to up the vdimm to 2.3 (+5) at some stage.
