Hi everyone. I've got folding set up at home and it's working fine and i've got a spare pc at work (a school) and i want it to be a dedicated folding computer. I've tried 7 and xp but i can't get folding to work :( i think it might be a problem with the proxy but i can't figure it out. I've had a look at the FAH forums but didn't know what to do.

Thanks,

Mark

Well i've done some fiddling and it's gone to 0.40% so i guess it's doing something. I'll leave it overnight to see if it does anymore and i'll get back to you. It's not a brilliant pc but it's 2.5ghz quad core and 4gb albeit 800mhz but something is better than nothing.

It's one of the first gen Intel quad cores. Used to be a media editing pc, but we recently bought a load of i mac for the kids to use instead.

My home PC is a Phenomx4 965 BE clocked to 4.2ghz with 16GB RAM, I tend to let that fold overnight when I'm doing downloading over night. And also the PC i actually use as work folds overnight when I'm not using it. Might set it up on my gf's PC as well as i recently built her a PC with a Intel haswell 4670k 8GB ram.

I'm OK with folding at work as I'm an ICT technician here and this PC would have been recycled otherwise. Trying to see if i can get my hands on a couple of the old servers with have got in storage :)

They were good when we bought them 5 years ago. Will see if i'll be allowed to put them under my desk.

Might have to remote desktop if i get some more machines cause i've already got enough monitors on my desk

Well i have the PC i work on (behind the monitors on the desk) set to run when I'm not using it and under the desk is the Dell T3400 which is maxed out on folding and behind it is an APC 2200 UPS that had been sat under my desk which is connected to all my monitors, my machine and the folding machine.

I'll have a little nose in the cupboard they are stored in. The 4 new imacs are Quad-Core i5 3.2 ghz/8GB ram and GeForce 675MX there are another 5 in there that are pretty much the same spec. Sadly i don't think i'll be allowed to do that.

Yeah got my pass key in and sorted now.

One of the servers we have has got dual Intel® Xeon® Processor E5430
(12M Cache, 2.66 GHz) and either 8 or 16GB or RAM and a slightly older one has Dual Intel® Xeon® Processor E5410 2.33GHz and 4 Gb or ram i think.

Will let you know if i manage to get my way at all :)

The dedicated machine was on all night. working at 5844 PPD with 1.24 days to finish current project and it completed one over night as it was on about 70% when i left it. And my working pc which is doing light folding also left on over night is about 30 min from completing another projected with about 3700 ppd.

Don't think the stats are updating

Well I've now added to my setup. Now have put a refurbed H80 into my work PC to help with it's overnight folding

And added another PC to the setup a Core2Duo 3.4ghz.

Sorry about the rubbish phone images. Hopefully in the next week or two i can add a server down there.

Well I've managed to get my hands on an old server

4gb ram and two Intel® Xeon® Processor E5410 (12M Cache, 2.33 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB)

Only thing is the fans in the PSUs are LOUD!!! Any ideas about turning them down? If not I'll have to try and find a cupboard with a network socket or rack to put it in.

I shall unplug the case fans and boot it up and see what it sounds like, but a lot of noise seems to be coming from the PSUs. Tried changing the setting in the bios from performance to acoustic. If not i wonder if i can fit the server stuff into my p180 case :)
