Hell!! \m/
Ok guys, I am unable to RDP from outside to my PC. One t5hing I think is my WAN address on my router....

Router 1 is Virgins Home hub that connects outside
Router 2 is the MAIN one, it's a RT66U. Now that connects to 1 over a home plug but I plan in the future on CAT5e crossover or Cat6e if I have more PC's
it's own IP is 192.168.0.1
It hands the second router *0.3

Now, should router one be in modem mode so just port 1 works? I'd rather it be in Router mode as I would like port 2-4 be for wired computers downstairs.

Router 2 says WAN IP: 192.168.0.3
but it says on settings pages Gateway + DNS are *0.1

Now router 2's own IP is *1.1 and it hands out 1.2+

Ok on router 2 Settubgs:

192.168.1.1 is LAN IP -
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Should I be on IPv6 insted? I think there is something wrong. Should router 1 be handing ip's or 2? Should router 1 be *1.2 or summit? not 0.1?

One thing if I have computers on router 1 how do they connct upstairs or to the other router as it's infront of it? Can I make a VLAN or summit and have everyone on the same network?

Are VLAN or VPN differernt or the same thng?

Thanks.

I might disable RDP maybe untill I need it and use it for tempory situations? I used to use RDP in college for years, I had changed reg settings: ADMINISTRATOR /disable/changed, lockout account after 3-5 attempts, different port, as for DDNS, I don't use my IP - I use no-ip. - anyway...

Ok. Thanks sorry for slow reply, changed it mostly. Still sorting wireless....

Do both routers need the same SSID? 2.4/5ghz. I have one with channels on lowest 0+5 and other highesst 8. I have second router with same *.*.*. as the other - 192.168.0.1 is my Virgin and I changed the Asus from *1.1 to *0.2 and my main PC *0.3
router #1 virgin hub

2.4ghz / 5ghz

wpa2 psk

Now Asus is in AP mode

So repearter and AP mode are like repeaters but the difference is AP connects wired and repeater is wireless? But I can connect to either wired or wirlessfrom computer?

All 4 are the same I will have a 2.4 and 5 at the end. I had both routers connected but to the WAN on the second - it worked but I just used a numbered...

Under wireless on Asus there's an option WDS, AP or hybrid? I have Virgin down and Asus upstairs - so ideally I'd like SSID 2.4 and SSID 5ghz but both SSID are both routers. SO no nat, fw, dchp on router So connecting to router 2 via a computer will get ip from #1? and shall #2's IP be static *0.2
