Hi

I'm hoping there is a bright spark out there who can give me a hand setting up one of these USB wireless adaptors. I am trying to install it under Windows 7 64bit

I had previously tried using a Dynamode USB dongle that I thought was incompatible as it showed as having a problem. the error message was error 10 the device can not start.

When I got the new dongle I put it in one of the USB slots. It was recognised incorrectly and the system installed it using a driver for the old usb dongle. I updated the driver using the supplied disk and the system recognised the stick correctly but it wouldn't work.

I decided to right hand click the dongle in device manager and uninstalled the device and checked the option to remove the drive from the system. At this point the system went back to incorrectly recognising the dongle as the old one. Again I right hand click the dongle in device manager and uninstalled the device and checked the option to remove the drive from the system.

Now the device was recognised but there was no driver for it. I let the system connect to the internet (via ethernet) and it installed the device - however it still didn't work. I went to the manufacturers website to download the correct driver but it was the same as the one windows 7 had installed automatically.

The system states that the device is working properly but when I try and see wireless networks it detects none. I have tried to "Troubleshoot problems" but that only comes back with "The wireless network adapter is experiencing problems"

I have installed the dongle on an XP machine and it works perfectly

I can only thing that there maybe an old driver stuck somewhere

A reboot of the PC reveals an error:

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

Looks like the V3 doesn't support x64 bit. The V2 does though. You need to contact customer support with your issue. See if there is a resolution from them.

I have contacted customer services - no reply as yet. If you read the reviews of the product, other users have had no problem getting it working on Win 7 x64

Its just my machine by the look of it :(

ah, well can I ask if the driver have a setup.exe file or just a set of ini files and catalog files? You may need to put the setup.exe or whatever .exe it is in compatibility mode. Right Click > Properties > Compatibility > Run this program in compatibility mode (Test them all)?

right...you should have removed the previous driver first and then installed the new driver BEFORE you plugged it in. Most USB stuff is like this (even if it doesn't appear so, this is just how USB works). Try a different USB port and try and force it to update the driver.

This can't be done. When running the installation process it asks you to insert the device before it will continue
