help setting up windows network please

hi all got 2 pcs connected via a router, i dont know how to network them together can someone please tell me a way of doing it

are they wireless or connected via a ethernet cable? Adsl or Cable and what router is it?

I assume they can both access the internet... 9 times out of 10 this should just be a matter of getting the cabling right.
