I'm trying to shoot some gameplay videos with my new Canon Powershot 220, mostly from older retro consoles on an CRT TV and I'm having a lot of trouble with contrast/brightness.

I manage to set up a suitable quality image on the LCD on the camera but as soon as I press the record button the image on the LCD changes and becomes very contrasty and bright, completely removing all detail from the sprites. When I download the video to my PC it is also too bright.

I've tried various things with the ISO and I've tried setting everything to manual so that it is not adjusting anything itself when I press play.

Is there anything that can be done about this or is it a problem generally with shooting videos of a TV?

Cheers.
