Hi, got a Shuttle SN41G2 that has a problem starting up /

If you shut down the computer and press the power button to start it straight away there is a 2 minute delay before it restarts? If you wait for 2 minutes before restarting it starts immediately.

If you shut down the computer and then unplug from the mains there is a 5 minute delay from pressing the button till it restarts? If you wait for 5 minutes before powering on it starts immediately.

Is this something shuttles do? or is it a faulty motherboard or power supply, I have replaced the battery and tried booting with only basics attached and it still does it, have also flashed to latest bios.

Apart from the above the system runs fine no problems just the delayed start thing.

Thanks Dutch

It's developing fault. Might be a capacitor in the PSU going. Also worth looking over the motherboard for bulging capacitors.

If you have a spare desktop case PSU, you can try using that with the Shuttle. As the SN41G2 was from the era before the Shuttle properity power socket on the motherboard.

Thanks for the reply,

Hadn’t thought of using / trying a different PSU so will hook up my Corsair at least will know what’s faulty then.

Thanks Dutch

Does it spin up then wait?
If so, this is what my old ECS board did on it's way out from failing caps.
The delay got longer and longer until it would no longer come out of it, just sit there.

If it's doing sod all, then I dunno, but try a different PSU to see.
