okay so i read somewher eon the fourms that when installign new MOBO that i need reinstall my OS o.0
cant i just hook my old HDD up to ?

Well it all depends what your OS is - I have had limited success with XP but with Win7 and a active internet connection no problems with just hot swapping OS HDD into new motherboards.

Could you provide a bit more detail.

Like, what OS, what motherboard are you coming from and what motherboard are you going to.

Would help provide a more informed answer. :)

I tend to do a re-install to be sure I am not going to get any problems.

What Operating system will you be using.

like 1say said the most important factor is what board your coming from, too.
I personally reinstall everytime a new mobo goes in, but if its not critical then if the chipset is the same the OS will generally work ok but if not then it could cause issues.

Like people or saying here, you need to be more specific...
XP Tends to make you reinstall the OS, because the Hardware Specifications of your computer go into the Activation of the OS.

While newer OS such as Windows 7, you can swap all the hardware you like, and you won't need to reactivate the software.

Regardless of wether the OS doesn't need re-activating upon a hardware change, whenever you do a major hardware change (such as motherboard) you should always do a fresh OS Install to ensure drivers don't get mixed up.

I've seen problems where old chipset drivers from old motherboard on an OS get mixed up with the new ones for the new motherboard and problems/ errors start occuring.
