Ive read up so much on these, and the way i see it is as below :

Sony LCD :

Better Styling
Better to use with a PC
comes in 40", more suited to my room size

Panasonic

2 HDMI Ports
Less noise on Freeview images
Comes with That cabinet for £50, decent AV stands are £200

side by side in currys, with 50/50 Contrast / Brightness i couldnt tell any difference between these in the HD trailers they were running (Superman, Cars, Poseidon, etc..)

The new Sony LCDs have amazing response time and black levels, i really dont think those criticisms are valid anymore. The PQ on HD was really incredibly similar

but i still dont have a clue of which to buy

help !

yes

i fully intend to own the TV for at least 5/6 years

and Hi Def DVD Players will be affordable within a year or so, same with SKY HD

I myself choose my pioneer plasma over LCD...Mainly because of the much improved SD picture quailty on the plasma screen...
Because i still think it's going to take a few years before the TV companys (SKY,BBC,ITV etc) are going send out more HD programs then SD..

simply out of price range unfortunately £1500 (give or take £50) max

you have any experience of PC useage on the PX60

i really want 40" BF2

but im worried that its going to look pants at 1024 x 768 stretched.

so why does every1 rate Plasmas so much, if it has to downsize the resolution to play it ?

whats the point in having a 1.5 grand plasma, and it not having the same native resolution as the lowest HD singal of 720P

surely it will look worse scaled than it would un-scaled.

I think you need to get down to some shops and compare the LCD's & plasma's for yourself in real life..

And make sure to get the shop/s to give the expect same feed to each set that you maybe interested in...and test for SD & HD.

And don't let them show off there sets with cartoon films like ice age,toy story, finding nemo etc

did this in currys

watched their HD trailer which had a load of Trailers from Apple.com shown in a loop.

Watched some standard definition stuff over freeview (bit of footy, Cbeebies (which my son watches a lot of) etc..

and you know what, i couldnt tell any difference between any of them. Only thing i couldnt see was what Sky was like, or DVD players. But you cant very well ask a shop to hook up a DVD player etc.. when you have no intention of buying it there. Ill pay £1450 on-line rather than £1800 thankyou mr sales man
