I had been waiting for all the latest x99/Intel chips and new video cards to come out before making a decision now i realize haswell-e is overkill for gaming to Im gonna shoot to build a fully focused gaming rig for shooters running 1 monitor somewhere between 27-32' able to support plenty of frames (undecided how much il spend on a monitor atm, 1080 or 1440p) but lets focus on the rig itself.

Im a console gamer and this is my first build, i can build myself just a couple things im not sure about. I only really play shooters so im looking for plenty of frames for a smooth experience

1) motherboard - unsure how good of a mobo i actually need, but i need optical out for my astro headset
2) RAM - 16gb 2133mhz seems inline with most OCUK pre built pc rigs ?
3) PSU - again dont know exactly what i 'need' power wise but modular looks to keep things tidy
4) cabling - no idea exactly what i need to connect everything but would like them all sleeved for tidyness
5) overclocking the cpu itself, not exactly a cheap thing to break lol

Things im looking for -
Corsair 780T case in white
Watercooled CPU (im thinking 4790 @ 4.5/4.6ghz?) with a high-end AIO cooler or in a Loop - can be expanded to GFX
Nvidia GTX 980 (EVGA SC or on waterblock in a loop)
SSD storage - 1 x SSD just big enough for a windows OS & 1 for games. Storage is always something you can add to later down the line.
Lastly - a nice theme to tie it all together, ie white case/white fans/led's

Budget upto £2500 give or take a little doesnt have to be this expensive, but dont need to worry about monitor or m+kb right now

Cheers!

I'll tell you now you don't need 16gb of ram for gaming, get 8, will save you some money. As for the watercooled cpu and gpu, any particular reason why? It's most likely overkill, thats all. The new 980 and 970 are designed with efficiency in mind, they don't draw as much power and therefore don't produce as much heat.

That's my input anyway. Obviously if you like the aesthetics of a watercooled comp go for it! plus I guess if you're overclocking a decent amount it won't harm.

i just thought keeping the cpu cool while OC'd would keep temps in check nicely, that's why i said all in one or loop i dont know whats sufficient. 16gb ram again like i said just seemed inline with what the pre-built rigs are equipped with...

The white Plastidip is for the detachable accent ring on the H105's pump, and also for the Gigabyte GTX 980 G1 Gaming's backplate. If there's no intention to mess with the backplate, just use normal white paint for the metallic accent ring (it brings three so you'll have spares) of the H105's pump. The Plastidip is so as not to void warranty of the GPU, as it peels off easily.

The Aerocool DS Editions perform very well on the H105 and are silent on max. Included three extra as case fans to match. They look awesome.

Reckoned there was a lot of white in the build, so picked out RAM with blue and green LEDs. There are also red, gold and white options. And for the same reason the NZXT Hue LED strip controller, which gives you full RGB, effects and brightness options.

White braided cables, including 4 Sata data for your two SSD's, DVD and storage drive (when you get one).

OcUK don't stock white USB 3.0 cables. Maybe Plastidip the one the case brings. I wouldn't advise it for power cables as the plastic would trap more heat, but for a USB it should be fine.

If you put the DVD re-writer in the top optical bay slot, then there should be no need to get braided SATA power cable, as the design of the side panel/window means it should be hidden from view if you cable manage decently. The Hue controller would sit in the second optical bay slot and isn't as long as a DVD rewriter, so hiding its cables shouldn't be too much of an issue either.

The power supply is overkill (even for SLI), but is white with white LED connectors. You could save money by finding a white 750W PSU (if you want to leave room for SLI, otherwise 500/550W is plenty).
